07 December 2010, Norcross Georgia - MediPurpose®, a master distributor and manufacturer of medical products, today announced that its trademark for the babyLance® infant heel incision device has been registered with the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
The medical device trademark is also registered in Australia, China, the European Union, Japan, Korea, Singapore and Switzerland.
The trademark registration protects both the word “babyLance” and the neonatal heel stick’s unique blue and green logo.
The babyLance® name and logo was designed by MediPurpose® with the cooperation of an international graphics consultant who also designed the logo for the SurgiLance® safety lancet.
Launched last July, babyLance™ is a single-use heel incision device utilized to obtain a blood sample from the heels of newborn (babyLance® BLN) and preemie (babyLance® BLP) infants.
The trademark registration follows MediPurpose’s 510(k) clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration last month to market the babyLance™ infant heel incision device with sharps prevention indications.
